A stage where tweens face stronger emotions and complex dynamics, making guidance essential.
As social dynamics grow more complex and emotions run stronger, tweens benefit from learning the foundations of Buddhist teachings. They still need guidance in applying these lessons—especially when navigating identity exploration, conflict, handling mistakes, and resisting peer pressure.
We center our teaching on applying Dharma thoughtfully in everyday challenges.
A conversational, scenario-based approach helps students apply Dharma to real-life problems. Teachers model repair strategies and respectful communication, while students are given opportunities to practice and present how the Dharma offers practical guidance in difficult moments. In the class, tweens build mindfulness, clarity, and compassion, and not just memorize principles but learn to apply them with confidence.
✦ Discuss realistic scenarios (friendship, fairness, school stress) and practice respectful responses.
✦ Learn and rehearse steps for repair and restitution when mistakes occur.
✦ Practice speaking up kindly and listening with care in guided exercises.
✦ Use short focus and mindfulness practices to support attention and emotional regulation.
✦ Occasionally prepare brief presentations that summarize learning and build confidence.
